Work "force"
Slowly but surly I'm getting the hang of this whole blog thing. I'm finally posting my 4th one. Whoopie!! So things have changed a little since I posted last. I have a job!! Yep, workin for the ol' temp agency. I tried surfin the net, signed up on career this and that but nothing ever came through. I think there is something to be said about going into a place of business and filling out an application and talking face to face with someone. I mean really, it's all about connections these days and I don't have any. So I broke down and went to Aiken Staffing. The day I went in, they placed me in a job and I have been working ever since. To be perfectly honest its not much money but the hours are flexible and that's very nice. I just wish I could work in a place that was full of fun people and everybody got along. I need a social outlet where I make money at the same time. Well, I'm still hoping for that big break and since none of my family and friends seem to work at any exceptional company's I guess I'll just keep looking. I did apply to be a seasonal UPS delivery person. Who knows maybe I will find something permanent there?

What GREAT Company have you worked for??
So to be completely honest I have only worked for a few company's in my short career, but lets face it, I'm still really young. OK...well not REALLY young, how about just young? The few company's I've worked for have been pretty great. When I was in College I worked at a restaurant called The Big Texan. If you have ever drivin into Amarillo you've seen it. HUGE tourist trap. I think all college students work at a restaurant at least once in those years. It was fun and lets face it, I banked for the kind of work it was. Then I matured slightly where I graduated to Country Club status and into the fine dining atmosphere working for Woodside Plantation Country Club. That was by far my most enjoyable job. Not much money but fun to do. While working at the country club I met my future husband. *SWOON* He was so cute, and a player at that. But he finally convinced me that I was the woman for him, so after about 6 months of working together and lots of flirting I quit that job and started to date him. While we were dating I tried my hand at the cosmetic industry and went to Nail Technician school. Yes, I know how to do nails, no I don't still offer those services to friends and family for free. Anyways, for a few short months I tried my hand at owning my own tanning and nail salon. Yep, it was called...hummmm... I don't even remember what it was called. Oh well, I was really tan during those months which worked out well since I was getting married soon. I guess it was time to grow up and get a job that would contribute to the household. So my fiancee thought it would be a good idea to get a job at the "bank." Regular hours and lots of potential. RIIIIGHT!! That job was good but boring in my opinion. I was thankful for the regular income and benefits because after about 2 years at that job I was pregnant with my 1st child (We did get married) and my working career went all down hill from there. Once I had children they were my job. But I have to say it's been the most rewarding job EVER!! No pay and no benefits but lots and lots of love! About a year after our daughter was born my hubby decided to become an entrepreneur. He started his own plumbing business and I did all the book work and payroll for his company for 10 yrs. We have only recently sold the business and started a new chapter in our lives. My children are older and I'm considering going back to school in a few years to make myself more valuable to the employment community. We shall see, maybe someone will hire be because of my wonderful life skills. I feel I'm worth about $80K to some company but I'm not sure there's anyone out there that recognises that potential. :)

My Bright Idea
I'm gonna start out SO cliche and say "This is my very 1st Blog" Aaaahhhhh! I know you're impressed. So here goes. For some reason I have this infatuation with job searching. I'm a stay at home mother of 2 and my husband is the sole financial provider, but I have this addiction to checking all the local websites to see what new jobs are out there. I guess deep down inside I want to find the perfect job for me, that will accommodate my family lifestyle and pay me what I think my time is worth. $$$$$ So after years of browsing the job search websites I had this wonderful idea. Wouldn't it be nice to know which companies really took good care of their employees. For example, I have heard from several people that UPS is a great company to work for. Their entry level positions pay a reasonable salary and if you stay with the company you have great potential to have a successful career with them. That kind of company values the employee that spends 1/4th of their precious time working and making the employer more money. I want to hear about companies who try to to create a safe, friendly work environment. Now, I know that this sounds like an idealistic view and I don't expect perfection, but I would like to gather information from employees and share it with others. Pretty simple. I would like to spread the word about great companies. If your company has any current openings, let me know and I will post it. Believe me, I hear from all my working friends and family when they aren't happy with their job but you rarely hear the opposite. My goal with this blog is to open the door of communication with those out in the work force. You may find this helpful when looking for a new job or maybe just hear some encouraging words. So if you would like to post a comment or email me I would be glad to anonomously share your thoughts and opinions with the world (or just my friends), either way let's all try to connect.
